It may happen that your flight is delayed, overbooked, or even canceled.

The airline operating the flight (the “operating carrier”) is legally responsible for respecting passenger rights, regardless of where you booked your ticket (through an agent, website, tour operator, etc.).

Your rights are governed by EU Regulation 261/2004, which regulates the rights of air passengers in cases of delays, cancellations, and denied boarding within the European Union.

Delays
Under EU261, you are entitled to compensation for delays if:

  • You arrive at your final destination more than 3 hours later than scheduled;
  • The delay was not caused by extraordinary circumstances (such as bad weather, air traffic control strikes, or political unrest);
  • Your flight departs from the EU, or
  • Your flight arrives in the EU and is operated by an airline based in the EU.

Cancellations
In case of cancellation, you are entitled to one of the following options (your choice):

  • Full refund of your ticket (for the unused part, and possibly also for the part already flown if the flight no longer serves any purpose), or
  • An alternative flight to your final destination (under comparable transport conditions), as soon as possible or at a later time of your choice, subject to availability.

You may also be entitled to compensation (in addition to refund or rebooking), unless the cancellation was notified in time or was due to circumstances beyond the airline’s control. You are entitled to compensation if:

  • You were informed less than 14 days before departure, and
  • The cancellation was not caused by extraordinary circumstances (such as extreme weather, war, air traffic control strike, etc.).

Submitting a claim
You can claim your compensation on the airline’s website. If you want assistance with claiming compensation, use an intermediary. Always read the terms carefully. We are not involved in the further handling of your claim.
